Потом в этот гель закачивается проппант (например, крупно- и среднезернистый песок, с диаметром зёрен около 0,5-1,0 мм), который служит для предотвращения смыкания трещин под действием горного давления. После этого гель разжижается с помощью специальных химических веществ и уходит.
